Cairn Rescue Information: The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.

Cairn Trivia: Cairns have been around since at least 1500. Toto in the Wizard of Oz was a Cairn Terrier. Cairns are named after piles of stones used for land markers in Scotland. Cairns were used to hunt small animals living among the rocks. Cairns excel at competitive obedience. Cairns barely shed.
