Rescue Me ID: 18-05-23-00136Daisy (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young pup. Daisy is the kind of puppy who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder. She's so sweet (while being initially a bit shy) and very loving with every possibility open to her. This is the case unless a puppy like Daisy is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space.. or on the streets hiding in the shadows. We're so grateful for the efforts of an older woman who over several months fed and loved Daisy and her two companions while they lived in a field. The day arrived when she could no longer afford to care for the threesome.. and ... (Read More)her heart was clearly broken as she turned them into the local shelter. She begged that they be vetted, fed well and placed with a family that loves her like crazy. The shelter complied...Farfel's was contacted that very day and we welcomed Daisy and her companions into Farfel's Rescue. When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of an urban city. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their shelter counterparts. Many have been used for opportunistic purposes...to either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy. Those that have lived on the streets often survive by learning social skills. They are engaging with people because they're their only means of survival. They try to fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal. This was the life that Daisy was living with her companions..with daily visits by their savior with food and water. Daisy is a gorgeous 6 month old, 12 lb sweet and puppy-silly girl (anticipated to be approximately 18 - 20 lbs when full-grown). This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about anywhere and fit right in due to her great temperament. Daisy is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. We all have a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving pup in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. As Daisy becomes comfortable in her home, she will blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please...the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she will shine with her accomplishments. We would like to see Daisy in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!)... as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. These classes take a very smart and cooperative puppy like Daisy and teaches them the skills to accompany their family out into the world with great behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Daisy would be a wonderful and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Daisy would enjoy another gentle dog or puppy to play with...she's so sweet and gentle as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Daisy appears to be a non-shedding (or lightly shedding) girl with the Terrier- scruffy hair that speaks of her breed mix. Daisy will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a lifelong salmon oil supplement is important for longevity and coat care) to keep her hair very healthy and matt-free. Daisy will be arriving on transport in Denver in early June. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Daisy please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-23-00012Preston (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Preston could be that dream come true pup for retirees or an adult family who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet best friend. When morning comes, Preston is the perfect companion for a long walk or hike enjoying the beauty of the day. After this fun outdoor adventure, Preston loves to be close...maybe hanging out quietly in a home office while enjoying his favorite toy (a fun game of tug is greatly appreciated by this playful guy). Preston is just an all-around great dog who is thrilled to be with his favorite people. Preston is such a great dog for anyone who is searching for a guy who's extremely lovable, snuggly ... (Read More)and a great full-time companion. At 9 - 12 months old..he's such a great age - old enough to be past any babyish behavior and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. Preston is such a great size at 15 lbs...he has the ability to participate in long hikes or other outdoor adventures. And then, Preston would love nothing more then to just chill on the couch or bed, close beside his favorite people. Farfel's is very committed to placing Preston with a family that derives great joy from showering a beautiful and sweet dog with nothing but love and kindness. Once comfortable, Preston loves playing and accompanying his people on car rides (so much fun!) and all adventures where a very sweet, smaller dog is welcome. Preston is entertaining in his antics, young energy and the huge love that lives inside just waiting to blossom. Preston would do great with a person or people who are invested in spending time with their pup. Sometimes when life gets lonely, Preston will always be there to cuddle and stay close. He's happy to share a bed or couch at any time..he's just a natural-born snuggler. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Preston to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Preston appears to be a non-shedding (or very light shedding) guy...although it's difficult to tell for certain until his sad shelter hair grows out. Preston will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great lifelong choice for longevity and coat care) to keep his hair healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Preston has been vetted, up to date on vaccinations and neutered. This protocol is in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy dogs and our ongoing efforts to pursue zero population growth. Preston will be arriving on transport in Denver in late May to early June (we'll update when the transport date is finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, engaging and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Preston, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-21-00021Copper (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Copper, at just 15 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 15 lbs), was facing homelessness at such a young and vulnerable age. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with a great temperament (although initially shy until acclimated..then the sweetest guy around)..they rescued Copper just in time. Copper is starting ... (Read More)out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous golden coat that is so cottony-soft that you just want to pet him all day. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil is an important life-long supplement for longevity and coat care) to keep his hair soft and very healthy. Copper is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's the world's greatest lap dog and snuggler having a strong, puppyish desire to be loved...and returns that devotion a thousand times over. He's super- smart and very engaging...very typical of the cross of a Terrier and a Papillon. Both of these breeds are known for their sense of humors and fun-loving, positive slant on life. Since Copper is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Copper will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force-free) trainers in your area. We're open to Copper finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a very sweet, extremely loving and super-smart puppy. A younger family would also be great (Copper loves children) that either works part-time or from home. Copper is far too sensitive to be left home alone for the entire day. Copper will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that he be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Copper's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Copper will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 5/26/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Copper, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-21-00016Bean (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet String Bean. He is a 6MO terrier mix, who we rescued from an overcrowded shelter in TX with his mom and his sister. Bean is about 15-20lbs (ish?). Bean is known as the friendliest, happiest, most outgoing dog. He gets along with everybody and everything. As his foster mom says 'he is the easiest dog we have ever fostered because he is just always happy and we don't have to worry about any issues since he literally loves everything and just enjoys life. He bring such a smile to our faces and honestly even makes our dogs happier and more playful.' Bean has not let his past effect him in any way. He has so much love to give and ... (Read More)just needs a forever family to give it to. Bean would do well in any home situation as long as he has a family who has lots of time to spend with him and treats him like a true member of the family. He would do great with kids, dogs, cats, pretty much everybody. He would also be just fine with an individual as long as he gets to go on long of adventures, playdates, and maybe even play some ball in the back yard. If you are interested in adopting Bean, please email us at brighterdaysdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out an app at brighterdaysdogrescue.com (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Colorado
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
