My name is Gus! I am a very sweet and affectionate guy. I am about a year old and weigh 20 lbs. I was found on the side of the road and had an old, already healed fracture in my leg. Unfortunately, the fracture did not heal correctly so I have had surgery to fix it! I am healing quickly and can't wait to be able to play again! I like to visit with other dogs and am not skittish or scared of little children.

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-22-00080Julie (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hey guys! I'm Julie, but my foster mom likes to call me 'Jules'. I'm a one year old Norwich Terrier. I am doing so well in my new foster home! When I first got here I wasn't too sure about humans and my new foster siblings, but I have really adapted well! I was very shy at first, but after a few days I began to snuggle with my foster Mom and my two Chihuahua friends, and I love to give kisses. My foster mom spoils me and lets me sleep in the bed with them and I love it! I love my foster brother and sister and when I am separated from them I lay down by the door and wait for them to come back. I do get a little jealous when mom pays ... (Read More)attention to them, but I think I will grow out of that once I know that I will get just as many pets as them. I am 100% potty trained and have never had an accident inside. I love to go outside and roll around in the grass. I'm a good eater and love to take my medicine in turkey hot dogs or cheese. I'm a very quiet, calm girl and can be shy until I get to know you. I have not been around children yet, but I think they might intimidate me because I am so shy. I go into my crate without a fuss and never makes a peep. I don't even bark when my chihuahua friends start yapping up a storm. I'm starting to get interested in toys, but I'm not quite sure what to do with them. I don't play a lot with the other dogs, but it's only because I don't feel well after my surgery. I do like to snuggle with them any chance I get. Overall I am a quiet, sweet little girl that needs lost of love and attention. Sweet Julie isn't sure what to think about this scary world. She needs some reassurance that there are kind and gentle people. Julie is a young female Norwich Terrier and she currently weighs about 10 lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. Rescue Me ID: 15-07-08-00185Benjamin (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Some dogs like to pretend like it doesn't make a difference whether you love on 'em or not. But I don't care if I look desperate for someone to love, because I AM! Please please please cuddle me! I will give you wiggles and licks and fluff and scruff in return. I'm new around here, and I've had to spend some time resting because of all the upgrades I just got at the vet (you can call me Benjamin 2.0 now), so I haven't had a chance to really show off who I am yet. When I first arrived at my foster home I was peeing inside because no one has told me not to for a very long time, but I am already getting better about that! I'm nice to my foster ... (Read More)sister, too. Please give me a chance to become your loving companion. Poor Benjamin wasn't very well taken care of in his previous life because he has heart worms. Luckily they are treatable and K-9 Angels will put him through treatment and get him all fixed up. Benjamin is a male Norwich / Cairn Terrier mix and we estimate that he is around 3-4 years old. Benjamin currently weighs 9 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Vaccinations Current

UPDATE: We were told Maggie was experiencing a fake pregnancy. Turns out it was very real! She is due for puppies at any time. You can still become preapproved to adopt her when she is ready. Maggie is the one Van, TX dog we have that never found her owners. We are now accepting applications on her. She is believed to be a 4-5 year old Schnauzer/Cairn Terrier mix. She is great with kids, but would do best in a quieter home with older children. She doesn't like loud noises. She hasn't been around dogs at her foster mom's house, but she did well with them during her time at the barn. She is almost potty trained, but is not 100% there yet. ... Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Lizette but my friends call me Lizzie. I'm a tiny little girl with a big heart. Lizette is such a little doll! She's very funny, playful and affectionate with people and other dogs. She loves reaching up to bigger dogs and giving them kisses! Lizette is currently about 11-12 pounds and no longer wears a bell on her collar, but she is still small enough to fit through the wrought iron fence in her foster mom's yard. She recently met a cat and was a little curious but not at all aggressive. She's very playful and energetic for short periods of time but naps regularly since she's still a puppy (~5 months old). She's excellent in ... (Read More)a crate overnight and during work hours with no accidents at all. I think she even goes in her crate on her own occasionally to let me know she wants a treat (which I give her because she's so cute!). Lizette is a female Cairn Terrier / Poodle Mix.     Hi all! My name is Harriet! I am told I am the perfect house guest. I have never had an accident in the house. I only chew on toys. I walk well on a leash and really enjoy going for walks, plus I do not mind being crated. Because I'm such a good girl, my foster family gives me the run of the house while they are at work or running errands. I am super great with the young children in the house! I like playing with my toys, my foster siblings and all the attention I receive from the kids. The only thing that my foster family says I need to work on is my mouthing/nibbling when I am playing, whatever that is. My favorite past time is chewing ... (Read More)on my toys. When I'm lounging on the couch, I like to have a perch that lets me look out the window or if that's not available I will gladly settle for a spot near you so I can get some belly rubs, oh how I love belly rubs! My foster dad says I am super smart and learning every day! He is super impressed with it and just knows that whoever snatches me up will be very happy with me! The only thing missing from my life is my forever family! So come down to the adoption center this weekend, I can't wait to meet you! Harriet is a one year old Cairn Terrier mix. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-11-00495Archie (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

ARCHIE (Special Needs) My sweet Archie boy (and believe me- he thinks that's his full name) is a chihuahua/terrier mix, and is such an amazing little boy with an even more amazing spirit! When I first went to the shelter to pick him up he was covered in fleas and looked so pitiful. He had terrible diarrhea and I could visibly see his back was broken and he had no use of his back legs at all. I wondered how this little boy would ever be able to trust, love, play, or be a 'real dog' again, and more importantly if he was ever even given the opportunity to have those things. Step 1- get him bathed and flea free Step 2- vet appointment to get ... (Read More)his bowels under control and assess his back Step 3- LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of LOVE (that was the easy part) Step 4- convince my husband to make him a set of wheels! It's been several weeks now and My Sweet Archie Boy has blossomed!!!! He's a real boy!! He can get around and play with all the other dogs. He loves to roll and play in the grass. He LOVES to throw and chase his own sticks! He loves mealtime. He loves people especially his foster mommy!! We have been working hard doing at home physical therapy to strengthen his back legs and believe it or not he is gaining some real strength, and is learning to hold himself up on those legs for longer and longer periods of time. With continued therapy it is very possible that he could be an even bigger miracle success story and gain more mobility on those legs. He is honestly the best boy, and while he is the BEST boy he has some special needs that will always need special attention too. He requires a lot of time, love, and patience but the rewards he shares are so much greater than the time it takes to care for him! Below is a compacted list of his needs (more details if needed can be provided). - Needs his bladder expressed daily. It's very easy! - He has no control of his bladder or bowel's (but only poops once or twice a day usually while running around outside) so he wears a diaper when he's not running around playing in the grass. - He has a wheelchair that he uses outside on concrete but he prefers to 'scoot freely' smile emoticon - He needs to continue physical therapy to strengthen and maintain strength in his back legs. Which can be easily done during playtime or while relaxing on the couch. Archie is a male Chihuahua / Terrier mix and is special needs. We estimate that Archie was born around February 20, 2015 and he currently weighs about 5 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events.     Hello my name is Livvy! I am a silly girl and notably a natural comedian. I can often be found staring at my beauty in a mirror and I have no shame in being a lap dog even though I weigh about 35 lbs. Some people think I have wirey hair like a terrier, and although I have a beard and some whiskers on my face and ears, I have smooth coat on my body! I am almost all white except for a large brown spot on my rear. It's a birth mark. I am about 2 years old and don't go potty in the house. i like to be in my great and I LOVE toys. I like to have all the toys in the house around me. If you put them in a toy box I will pull them out indiviually to ... (Read More)inspect them and then I keep them all for myself. I don't mind cats, kids are GREAT, and I love to play with other dogs. I was hit by a car before being rescued and sustained a hip fracture. My hip is healing on its own and I am getting stronger but i get tired easily sometimes and can't go for long walks at this point. I would love to meet you and your family to show you how great I am! Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

2 year old chi and Cairn terrier mix. He knows how to use a doggy door, he is good with other dogs, but sometimes likes to be bossy to dogs smaller than him. He absolutely loves to play fetch or just play with a tennis ball. His foster likes to put him in his play pen with a few small kong balls and he just plays and plays for hours. He does not bark and likes to do his own thing too, so don't plan on him sitting in your lap for hours while you pet his head. He will be scared he is going to miss something and will go play for a while and come back when he's pooped out. He is completely potty trained as well as crate trained. He can get ... (Read More)snippy if you mess with his back legs so we fear he has been abused at some point in his life. Travis is a very sweet and special boy. He needs someone very patient, who will not give up on him. He has such a love for playing and toys and will be occupied with his ball for hours on end. He does well on a leash and is a great all around dog. We aren't sure on cats and what we do know is he would be a great companion for a retired person or single person. He has been successfully treated for heart worm and is in tip top shape. Travis is for a person who will not get mad at him for being Travis. Can you open your heart to this sweetheart? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-04-00006Jillian (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Jillian (Jilly) was born the first part of May, 2014 and we believe she might be a Cairn Terrier mixed with something a little larger. She currently weighs about 16 lbs and don't think she will get any larger. We have her sister Jolie too. Jillian is more the gold color of the Cairn terrier than Jolie who is a little more blonde. Both are happy go lucky pups but Jillian is a little on the shy side and has the submissive elimination disorder but that usually goes away as them become more confident in their surroundings They are spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, heart worm tested and are on monthly heart worm prevention. ... (Read More)They are both crate trained but still need work with their house training, therefore we prefer they go to a home where someone is there part of the day to work on that. Jillian's adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in meeting her please email ARNT for a pre adoption questionnaire. Because a home visit to check out the fence around the property is part of the adoption process, Jillian is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Texas
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
