|Rescue Me ID: 16-11-29-00221Peanut Brittle (male)|
Hello I am snuggling Peanut! I have lots of energy and play and nap with my foster mom's other two big dogs and a couple of the cats that will play with me. (Sometimes I chase the kitties that don't want to play but never to bite or hurt them!) Even though I will be right at your feet and want to be close to you, I have to work very hard to stop from scooting away when people wan t to pick me up - I have what my foster mom calls 'first touch' fright. I'm not sure, but maybe I wasn't treated kindly and so it is VERY hard to trust at least right away. So please give me a chance! Once I am picked up - I snuggle right in and almost hug you! But at first please be patient with me. I sleep in a crate in an enclosure at night and don't whine or bark (except the first night - so my foster mom wrapped me up tight in her sweater and talked to me for a few minutes and then I was ok to go back in for the night. I always go on a puppy pad if I can't make it outside. I haven't had an accident at all. So maybe put down a few puppy pads until I get the layout! At first, when I would eat, I would take a bite and then move away, and then back in for a bite and then back out - so I am not used to feeling safe when I eat. It helps if I have a secure area when I eat. So right now I can almost finish my whole bowl without moving away! I would love a forever home! Oh and by the way - I know how to SIT. Come meet me this weekend at the adoption center! Peanut Brittle is a Male Terrier Mix that we estimate to be born around July 1, 2016. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. Thank you! (Less)

We have LOTS of precious fur babies available for adoption, please come meet them at the Addison PetSmart - 3800 Belt Line, Addison, 75001 - every Saturday from 1-7 and every Sunday from 1-6-------------------------------------------------------------------WE NEED FOSTER HOMES FOR ANIMALS! Fosters are the backbone of animal rescue. In most EVERY shelter - in most EVERY county - in most EVERY city - animals r being euthanized (KILLED) daily due to overcrowding - dog - cat - large - small - male - female - puppy - kitten - old - young. We cannot save them without foster homes. APPROXIMATELY ONE OUT OF THREE ANIMALS THAT ENTER A SHELTER IS EUTHANIZED. These healthy sweet pets would have made great companions. Don't know what fostering is? Briefly - it is babysitting an animal until it is adopted. FOSTERING IS FREE TO DO! Most rescues cover all expenses for fosters, and anything they do not cover is tax-deductible. If u cannot foster - please ask your friends and family to. If u want more information - Google 'animal fostering.' I'm begging - it's only temporary but lives can't be saved unless people step up - PLEASE - shelters are overflowing - when you foster one animal - you save two lives - the one you foster and the one that gets his/her space in the shelter. If you can/will foster - let me know, I thank you - and the animals thank you! PS - Have you ever dreamed of helping a rescue but don't have the time, space, or just plain don't know what to do? At your pet limit? Allergic? Can't have pets where you live? Well - how about becoming a VIRTUAL FOSTER... You can choose a minimum amount of $10 a month to 'virtually' foster a homeless animal of your choice (of course, a larger sum would be happily accepted and appreciated). What does Virtual Foster mean? Our foster fur babies typically have many veterinary bills, as this is the nature of being rescued. There are also other expenses related to the ongoing care and rehab of fosters. As a Virtual Foster, your donation will go towards the vetting - medical care, and general care of the animal you have chosen. Your donation will go a LONG way in ensuring a foster dog receives the needed care and attention! In return for your kind donation, you will receive a periodic update on the progress of your foster. Once your foster is adopted, you will be notified so that you can choose another animal to foster. If you genuinely cannot foster, there are still other ways to help. Drive for transports, evaluate dogs in your local animal shelter, or take pictures of their available animals. (Less)

Everyone has a favorite Jelly Bean and this one is ours! As sweet as they come, Jelly Bean will always put a smile on your face! You'll always catch him with his tail wagging and his alert ears listening for your praise. Jelly Bean is a smart pup and loves to have your attention. Although he came to us with a fractured leg and help, that hasn't put a damper on his attitude one bit! Jelly Bean loves to follow you around and play with his toys. He loves other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats. Once he recovers from his surgery, there is no doubt that this sweet boy will be just as happy and lively as ever! Don't get beanboozled! |Rescue Me ID: 16-10-20-00144Colby (female)|
I've been at my foster mom's house for a while now. At first I was nervous and unsure of all the people and dogs at the house, but foster mom gave me time to adjust. That seems like FOREVER AGO! Now I love when we have visitors and I don't even mind the other pups in the house. Sometimes I run around with the other pups, but I really prefer snuggling with my foster mom on the couch or when she takes me and one of her pups for walks around the neighborhood. Let's see, some of my other favorite things to do are laying in the sun and sleeping in the bed with foster mom. She wants you to know that I'm really good with my potty manners so I don't have to stay in a crate when she leaves like some of the younger pups that stay here. Did I also mention that I sleep in foster mom's big bed? There are a bunch of dog beds around the house so during the day I lay on those. We should also tell you that whoever I lived with before didn't take great care of me because my fur and skin were in rough shape when I first got to foster mom's house and I'm heartworm positive. My fur looks better now, but I really like to wear dresses like the little lady I am. K-9 Angels has already starting to slowly treat me to get rid of my heartworms. It may take a little while but as long as you love me, continue my treatment, and keep me on heartworm prevention for the rest of my life they'll never come back! I can't wait to meet my forever family!! Colby is a sweet female Cairn Terrier mix. We estimate that she is about 2 years old and she currently weighs about 14 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. |Rescue Me ID: 16-09-05-00085Happy Jack (male)|
Jack is about the happiest boy we've ever known. He came from the shelter in bad shape and stayed in bed for the first 3 days until the supplements started to work. Today he's happy and loves to play. He is on the slow kill heartworm treatment (it takes about 6-9 months to test negative). Other than that he is healthy and active. You must have a rather large toy budget... he adores ripping up toys (hence the knickname Jack the Ripper when he spots a toy he wants to rip). One toy he plays with and does not rip... his little ball which he loves. Jack needs a special home where he will be cherished and loved with someone to play with him, possibly an older compassionate child to bond with him and make his best buddy. When making an inquiry please tell us about yourself. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 16-03-28-00583Jilly (female)|
Jillian (Jilly) was born the first part of May, 2014 and we believe she might be a Cairn Terrier mixed with something a little larger. She currently weighs about 16 lbs. and we don't think she will get any larger. We have her sister Jolie too. Jillian is more the gold color of the Cairn terrier than Jolie who is a little more blonde. Jillian is a little on the shy side and we feel she will do best is a household with other friendly dogs. She has a slight submissive elimination disorder but that usually goes away as them become more confident in their surroundings She is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, heart worm tested and is on monthly heart worm prevention. She is crate trained but still needs a little work with her house training. Jillian's adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in meeting her please email ARNT for a pre adoption questionnaire. Because a home visit to check out the fence around the property is part of the adoption process, Jillian is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 16-02-20-00163Junie B (female)|
Junie B is ready for some fun and adventure like the girl in the children's books! This Junie B is fun, happy, cute, and ready to play. She is a young girl - about a year old and is about 17 pounds. We think she sounds like a Pug when she barks but don't know what else is mixed in. Junie B may have some Brussels Griffon, poodle, schnauzer or cairn mixed in - we really aren't sure. Junie B loves people, kids, and male dogs her size (big dogs kind of scare her and she doesn't get along well with female dogs). She has been spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and cherry eyes removed. She is ready for a home of her own! WE ARE IN ABILENE, TEXAS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT OUR PETS, WE REQUIRE ADOPTERS MEET THE DOG TO MAKE SURE IT IS A GOOD FIT. (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Texas|
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
