Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

(HS) Harper is a small little terrier that we took in from animal control after she was found injured and in bad shape. You would not believe her before pictures when she came to us. Rescue Me ID: 16-09-08-00749Knick (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Howdy everyone! I made it thru the week without my sister and I am learning to play really well with new, and different dogs this week. I sleep thru the night now in my kennel by myself! Foster mom says that is very good. I've found a new way to snuggle! I like to lay on my back and be held like a baby as you rub my belly. I will give you LOTS of kisses! I'm up to 6.5 lbs. and my foster mom is trying hard to get me to eat more. I would rather play than eat! Please come see me at the shelter! I was very scared last week! There are a lot of strange dogs and noises there and I was really scared. I'm going to be braver this week -- or at least ... (Read More)try. Knick is a Male Cairn Terrier Mix that we estimate to be born around July 1, 2016 and currently weighs 5 lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Jack is about the happiest boy we've ever known. He came from the shelter in bad shape and stayed in bed for the first 3 days until the supplements started to work. Today he's happy and loves to play. He is on the slow kill heartworm treatment (it takes about 6-9 months to test negative). Other than that he is healthy and active. You must have a rather large toy budget... he adores ripping up toys (hence the knickname Jack the Ripper when he spots a toy he wants to rip). One toy he plays with and does not rip... his little ball which he loves. Jack needs a special home where he will be cherished and loved with someone to play with ... Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Meet Darcy. She is a 4 year Shih Tzu/Terrier mix we rescued this past Saturday when her owner came in to the clinic to have her heartworm tested and found out she was HW positive. So they decided that they were going to have to euthanize her because of the expense of treatment and after preventative care. So we took her in. She is not spayed but we will have her spayed before adoption. She is now current on all vaccinations including Rabies, bordatella and parvo/distemper. She is about 23 lbs and has a very sweet disposition. She is good with people and other dogs and cats. Appears to be house trained and crate trained. We are looking for a ... (Read More)foster to help us while she is in treatment for heartworms and until we can put her in a fur-ever family. If you are interested in helping us foster her please message the page. Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Alex is a super cute little guy that is getting more and more comfortable everyday at his foster home but is still pretty nervous at the adoption center. Who can blame this guy for taking a while to warm up to people. After probably having a family at some time he found himself alone at a shelter. It's ok though because Alex has a foster home where he enjoys getting spoiled by his foster mom, playing in the yard, watching his foster mom work, and watching tv in the evenings. Alex also likes his foster home because there is always a soft bed for him to sleep on. Alex wants you to know that he does open up and is a smiley guy at home - he's ... Rescue Me ID: 16-05-03-00087Amelia (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Update 6/3/16: Amelia is now looking for her forever home. She is a sweet small dog that longs to be a lap dog. She is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and spayed. Amelia is a total love bug (once she gets to know you), house trained and create trained. She gets along well with other dogs (large and small) and cats. Walks well on a leash and enjoys being outside as well as inside. Initial Post: Amelia a young, possibly 1-1 1/2 pregnant terrier/chi-X, was surrendered by her owner on Tuesday to the Garland shelter along with with another dog who was also pregnant. We took both dogs. Went straight to the vet clinic for a fecal and ... (Read More)heartworm test. Both test were negative for Amellia. After examination we came to the conclusion that she still had a little more time to go. Well on Saturday 3/5/16 she had 4 puppies. 3 boys 1 girl. We thought we had a couple of weeks to go. It would have been a shame if she would have had them in the shelter. Thank goodness we got her in time. Once the puppies are weened we will vaccinate and spay her and she will be available for adoption. (Less)

Jillian (Jilly) was born the first part of May, 2014 and we believe she might be a Cairn Terrier mixed with something a little larger. She currently weighs about 16 lbs. and we don't think she will get any larger. We have her sister Jolie too. Jillian is more the gold color of the Cairn terrier than Jolie who is a little more blonde. Jillian is a little on the shy side and we feel she will do best is a household with other friendly dogs. She has a slight submissive elimination disorder but that usually goes away as them become more confident in their surroundings She is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, heart worm tested ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Texas
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
