Rescue Me ID: 16-10-20-00144Colby (female)
I've been at my foster mom's house for a couple of weeks. At first I was nervous and unsure of all the people and dogs at the house, but foster mom gave me time to adjust. Now I love when we have visitors and I don't even mind the other pups in the house. I'm not a huge player yet, but that's probably because I was nervous when I first got here and this week I was spayed. But I do know t hat I like laying in the sun and sleeping in the bed with foster mom. She wants you to know that I'm pretty good with my potty manners. She doesn't know if I'm crate trained because I used to sleep on the couch and now I sleep in her bed. We should also tell you that whoever I lived with before didn't take great care of me because my fur and skin were in rough shape when I first got to foster mom's house and I'm heartwoRm positive. My fur and skin is already looking better but I think I also look pretty in dresses. K-9 Angels is starting to slowly treat me to rid my heartworms. It may take a little while but as long as you love me, continue my treatment, and keep me on heartworm prevention for the rest of my life they'll never come back. Colby is a sweet female Cairn Terrier mix. We estimate that she is about 2 years old and she currently weighs about 12 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. Thank you! (Less)

Well hello! I'm a wee little laddie who happens to be looking for a new home. Are you looking for a new pup to be your friend? Because if you are, I might just be the one you're looking to adopt. I'm look as though I might be a Cairn mix or a Scottie mix. Nobody is really sure, but I definitely have the traits of a terrier. I'm 5 months old and about 10 lbs. I am a very calm dog in the house and get along well with other dogs and cats. I do tend to like a quieter household...children are OK, but if it gets too hectic I'll tend to want to check things out from my own quieter space. Outside, I'm a wee bit of a terrier. When I see something new, I do like to provide a warning alarm from time to time, just to let everyone know that I'm ready to defend the world against the evil Empire. But if my defense skills are not needed, then I love to sit/lie down next to you, when you decide to get comfy on the sofa. I'm starting to learn my basic obedience commands. Potty-training is good, as long as you keep me on a schedule, but we're working steadily on refining that task. I can sleep all through the night without needing to wake up and go. I'd love to have a chance to meet you. If you'd like to meet me, please contact email@example.com to set up a meet and greet. Thanks. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-05-00085Happy Jack (male)
Jack is about the happiest boy we've ever known. He came from the shelter in bad shape and stayed in bed for the first 3 days until the supplements started to work. Today he's happy and loves to play. He is on the slow kill heartworm treatment (it takes about 6-9 months to test negative). Other than that he is healthy and active. You must have a rather large toy budget... he adores ripping up toys (hence the knickname Jack the Ripper when he spots a toy he wants to rip). One toy he plays with and does not rip... his little ball which he loves. Jack needs a special home where he will be cherished and loved with someone to play with him, possibly an older compassionate child to bond with him and make his best buddy. When making an inquiry please tell us about yourself. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-12-00332Mavis (female)
Mavis, her two litter mates Chewy and Rowdy, and their mom Sugar came to our shelter as strays. The puppies were covered in bug bites, so they immediately went into foster care. There, they are around children of all ages, dogs large and small, cats and chickens. Mavis is our little firecracker. She's very intelligent, already teaching herself how to use the dog door and sneak out of her playpen. Her favorite thing is to take naps with her human foster sister. Mavis needs her second puppy vaccine around 8/17. She will be microchipped upon adoption. Her adoption fee includes a voucher for her spay when she's old enough. Please contact the Navasota Animal Shelter at 936-825-6641 to inquire about Mavis. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-10-00318Alex (male)
Alex is a super cute little guy that is getting more and more comfortable everyday at his foster home but is still pretty nervous at the adoption center. Who can blame this guy for taking a while to warm up to people. After probably having a family at some time he found himself alone at a shelter. It's ok though because Alex has a foster home where he enjoys getting spoiled by his foster mom, playing in the yard, watching his foster mom work, and watching tv in the evenings. Alex also likes his foster home because there is always a soft bed for him to sleep on. Alex wants you to know that he does open up and is a smiley guy at home - he's just nervous at the loud adoption center. Alex is a male Norfolk / Cairn terrier mix. He's about 18 months old and currently weighs around 17 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. |Rescue Me ID: 16-03-28-00583Jilly (female)|
Jillian (Jilly) was born the first part of May, 2014 and we believe she might be a Cairn Terrier mixed with something a little larger. She currently weighs about 16 lbs. and we don't think she will get any larger. We have her sister Jolie too. Jillian is more the gold color of the Cairn terrier than Jolie who is a little more blonde. Jillian is a little on the shy side and we feel she will do best is a household with other friendly dogs. She has a slight submissive elimination disorder but that usually goes away as them become more confident in their surroundings She is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, heart worm tested and is on monthly heart worm prevention. She is crate trained but still needs a little work with her house training. Jillian's adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in meeting her please email ARNT for a pre adoption questionnaire. Because a home visit to check out the fence around the property is part of the adoption process, Jillian is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-20-00163Junie B (female)
Junie B is ready for some fun and adventure like the girl in the children's books! This Junie B is fun, happy, cute, and ready to play. She is a young girl - about a year old and is about 17 pounds. We think she sounds like a Pug when she barks but don't know what else is mixed in. Junie B may have some Brussels Griffon, poodle, schnauzer or cairn mixed in - we really aren't sure. Junie B loves people, kids, and male dogs her size (big dogs kind of scare her and she doesn't get along well with female dogs). She has been spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and cherry eyes removed. She is ready for a home of her own! WE ARE IN ABILENE, TEXAS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT OUR PETS, WE REQUIRE ADOPTERS MEET THE DOG TO MAKE SURE IT IS A GOOD FIT. (Less)

Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
