Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Jessie and I'm a 4-month-old terrier mix and weigh about 20lbs. I'm an incredibly sweet and loving dog with the perfect mix of energy and calmness: I will play in the yard with other dogs, but I'll settle down when it's time to come inside. I'm VERY gentle with children and I get along with dogs of all sizes. I am good in cars and I walk well on a leash. I am fully house-trained and crate-trained. I make a wonderful friend, so if you're looking for someone to take you for walks and then hang out on the couch, I'm your girl!

If approved, a home check is done, and if that passes - you adopt which includes a 1-week trial period, if - for any reason during that first week, the adoption is not working out, you can return the dog for a full refund of your adoption fee. )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))WE NEED FOSTER HOMES FOR ANIMALS! Fosters are the backbone of animal rescue. In most EVERY shelter - in most EVERY county - in most EVERY city - animals are being euthanized (KILLED) daily due to overcrowding - dog - cat - large - small - male - female - puppy - kitten - old - young. We cannot save them without foster homes. APPROXIMATELY ONE OUT OF THREE ANIMALS THAT ENTER A SHELTER IS EUTHANIZED. These healthy sweet pets would have made great companions. Don't know what fostering is? Briefly - it is babysitting an animal until he/she is adopted. FOSTERING IS FREE TO DO! Most rescues cover all expenses for fosters, and anything they do not cover is tax-deductible. If you cannot foster - please ask your friends and family to. If you want more information - Google 'animal fostering.' I'm begging - it's only temporary but lives can't be saved unless people step up - PLEASE - shelters are overflowing - when you foster one animal - you save two lives - the one you foster and the one that gets his/her space in the shelter. If you can/will foster - let me know, I thank you - and the animals thank you! PS - Have you ever dreamed of helping a rescue but don't have the time, space, or just plain don't know what to do? At your pet limit? Allergic? Can't have pets where you live? Well - how about becoming a VIRTUAL FOSTER... You can choose a minimum amount of $10 a month to 'virtually' foster a homeless animal of your choice (of course, a larger sum would be happily accepted and appreciated). What does Virtual Foster mean? Our foster fur babies typically have many veterinary bills, as this is the nature of being rescued. There are also other expenses related to the ongoing care and rehab of fosters. As a Virtual Foster, your donation will go towards the vetting - medical care, and general care of the animal you have chosen. Your donation will go a LONG way in ensuring a foster dog receives the needed care and attention! In return for your kind tax-deductible donation, you will receive a periodic update on the progress of your foster. Once your foster is adopted, you will be notified so that you can choose another animal to virtually foster. If you genuinely cannot adopt or foster, there are still other ways to help. Sponsor an adoption or medical treatment. Volunteer your time - drive for transports, rescue groups always need dogs transported from one place to the next. Donate money, our rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible. Educate - spread the word about the need for fosters. Sign up for notifications from your local rescue group or shelter, and share the animals in need on social media, there are so many ways to help - thank you, please share this post (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-23-00610Nathaniel (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We may chronologically estimate that Nathaniel is 11 years old, but that doesn't stop him or slow him down one bit. This guy is a trooper. He was neutered and had a dental at the same time and he was only left with eight teeth. But he was back running around and eating solid food the next day. Nathaniel is living in a foster home with two permanent pups and at least one other foster pup and he gets along very well with everyone - even the grumpy lady pup and the other old man pup of the house. %BD%9D%A4%BD%BD%8F Nathaniel really hasn't shown too much interest in toys but he does love to run around with everyone. Nathaniel sleeps in a ... (Read More)crate next to his foster mom's bed and he doesn't put up any fuss when it's time to go to sleep. Nathaniel also likes to nap on the bed when he gets a chance, so we know that he would love to sleep in the bed at his FURever home. Nathaniel has also shown that he likes to leave the backyard and explore the bayou behind his foster home, but as soon as his foster mom sees he's out there and calls to him, he comes running back to her. Nathaniel is a fan favorite of all the volunteers and we are sure you will also fall in love with him. He's a perfect size to go everywhere with you (10 pounds). Nathaniel may be a 'senior,' but he has a lot of life and love to give. We don't really know how old Nathaniel really is. We do know that his dad went to prison and he ended up in the shelter. His dad hit some hard times but he must've loved his pup because Nathaniel is heartworm negative! Come meet this cutie at the adoption center this weekend. Nathaniel is a male Cairn Terrier mix that we estimate to be. around 11 years old and he currently weighs about 10 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/k9_angels_rescue_application_to_adopt.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-23-00432Pepper (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pepper is black with a white blaze upon his chest and some white on the very tips of his back paws. He still has his rear dew-claws and they MAY need to be amputated before he gets too big/old, he's only had his 1st set of puppy shots & isn't due for his next set until the end of July. Pepper doesn't like the harness & leash but is willing to walk with lots of positive reinforcement and encouragement. Pepper is about 8 weeks old. He has learned to climb up and down stairs rather quickly and is quick to learn. He isn't fully potty trained, but has learned to use pee pads anytime he needs to go potty.

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Oreo had one pup and he's HUGE!! She had to have a C-section to deliver the pup and that's when they took the opportunity to spay her to ensure she won't have any more litters. She's a terrier mix, walks 'ok' on the leash, is mainly black with a white blaze in her chest, and some white & brown dusting along her back and on her toes. Oreo can walk on the leash, listens-ish to commands but she'll need a firm hand and obedience training (she's smart) to ensure she doesn't assume control from her owner. Oreo is quick to attach herself to a dominant individual and will become aggressive towards other people & animals should they attempt to get ... (Read More)too close. Although this is endearing, it will need to be stopped and I'll work on it while she's with me. She is getting accustomed to the cats and vice versa. It ahs been discovered that she has double dewclaws on her back legs and they will need to be monitored and kept trimmed in order to prevent any ingrown nails and infection. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Texas
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
