Jake (safe in a Foster Home and available for adoption) Wow, I have had a bunch of changes in the past few weeks, all for the good of me and the people say I have been very adaptable, which makes me very adoptable. I am in a Foster Home looking for my adopty home! I guess you need to know stuff about me, other than how cute my face is'|'|'|'|'| My name is Jake and I am a male 2 year old, around 15 lb, Te...rrier mix. I am crate trained and working on that whole potty on the inside, oops, I mean outside thing. I was suffering from the mange bugs, they felt like crawling all over and never stopped. Thank you for Justice for Toby ... (Read More)who took me to Miss Vet who made the mange guys die! My hair is growing back in full scruffy dapper mode! I am super well social with people, kids of people, and other dogs! I am neutered, up to date on shots and ready for adoption. If interested in adopting me, please contact justicefortoby@pawsunitepeople.com. I am near San Antonio, Texas, but can be adopted out of state! Trust me, you will LOVE me and my waggy tail! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-04-00006Jillian (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Jillian is about 10 weeks old and we believe she is a Cairn Terrier mix. One of our volunteers did see mommy and daddy before she was born and the daddy especially looks like a cairn terrier mix. Mommy looks a lot like daddy but lighter. They both look to be no more than 15 lbs so Jillian should not be bigger than that when full grown. We have her sister Jolie too. Jillian is more the gold color of the terrier than Jolie who is a little more blonde. Both are happy go lucky pups but Jillian is a little on the shy side. They have had their first puppy shot, worming and heart worm prevention. We prefer that Jillian goes to a home where ... (Read More)someone is home part of the day to work on her potty training. The adoption fee is $200 and a portion of the fee will be refunded for remaining vaccinations and spaying when proof is submitted to ARNT. They can be spayed between 4 and 6 months depending on the vet they are taken to. We do know of a couple of low cost spay/neuter clinics for reference. If you are interested in meeting Jillian please email ARNT for a pre adoption questionnaire. Because a home visit to check out the fence around the property is part of the adoption process, she is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-12-00233Shaley (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Shaley is an 8 month old Carin Terrier mix. She is super sweet and smart! Shaley's tail is always wagging and she loves to be with her foster family on the couch or bed. She sleeps in her crate all night with no crying at all. Her foster mom reports that in addition to sleeping through the night in her crate she also appears to be potty trained. Shaley is good with kids and would make a great addition to any family. Shaley hasn't had enough shots to come to the adoption center but she is available for adoption and applications are being taken now. Shaley is around 8 months old and weighs about 13 pounds. Rescue Me ID: 14-05-30-00367Hector (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Incontinent

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Meet Hector! Hector is an awesome little old man who is incredibly sweet and loving! Hector is small weighing it at around 15 lbs. The vet estimates that Hector is about about 6 years old and he is super laid back and very happily curls up on your lap and takes a nap. However don't let his snuggles (or his age!) fool you, Hector loves to wrestle! Hector lives at my animal rescue center with an average of 20 other dogs large and small, young and old so we know he gets along with all 4-legged friends! Hector's favorite thing to do is to wrestle with the puppies! The pups lay down and allow Hector to jump ... (Read More)on top of them and he chews on them and gets loud, he just loves to feel like a tough guy! :) Hector is what I call a 'San Antonio Special' meaning he is a good old mixed breed pup with a little bit of everything in him mixed up to create a super sweet and special one of a kind dog! Hector and his friend Happy (who has since been adopted!) were both living in the streets of South San Antonio (as you can see from his video). A neighbor reported that these 2 pups had been living in the streets of this neighborhood for the past 3 months. So I sprang into action and scooped both these guys up and brought them back to the Kate To The Rescue Center in the Austin area to get these guys fixed up and find them homes! The vet thinks Hector has the beginning stages of cataracts but that doesn't slow him down or stop him in any way. Also Hector on the very occasion has peed while sitting or sleeping but the GREAT news is that condition can be treated with monthly medication that comes to about 15 dollars a month! Hector is such a laid back and happy loving dog that I think he would fit in with most families! He has not been around children or cats but I imagine based on his personality that he won't have any problems getting along great with both! If you are interested in meeting this handsome devil feel free to head on over to www.katetotherescue.org and fill out an application! Thanks! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-05-30-00114Drake (male)

Cairn Mix

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Drake has been such a pleasure to have in our home! He has a very happy demeanor. He warmed up immediately to both of his foster parents. He gets along great with his two foster sisters. They are roughly the same size. There is some indication he may not get along with larger dogs. Drake learned to use our dog door in 2 minutes and has never had a single accident in our home! He loves being outside chasing birds with the other dogs as much as he loves sleeping by my feet or even on my lap while I watch TV. Drake goes into his kennel every night without complaint and sleeps the whole night. The first time I left home, he was kenneled for 7 ... (Read More)hours and it was no problem. After that I learned it was okay to leave him out. He was loose in the house with the other dogs all day and there was not one problem! He barks on occasion if he thinks something is going on outside but he is by no means a yapper or annoyance. Mostly just protective at the appropriate times. Drake is such a wonderful dog who can't wait to find his forever home! As we believe proper health care of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Very sweet dog. We adopted him from a shelter 2 mos ago. They lied to us about his background and said he would be a great family dog. It turns out, he was removed from an abusive home and he is terrified of children. I have an 8yr old. He was supposed to be her dog. He barks and charges at her. We have tried everything but I think he is just a one owner dog and that owner needs to be an adult. He is very sweet and loving with me now. He likes his little crate and goes there when scared. He had a nervous bladder but is now leash trained. He had horrible ear mites and infected ears but that has cleared with threatment. He likes baths and ... (Read More)snuggling. Starting express a desire to play but his attitude towards kids is getting worse not better and we aren't going to be able to keep him much longer. I dont want to give him back to the shelter because he was very obviously NOT taken care of. We think he is a carin terrior with possibly some chihuahua in him. His is microchipped. He will sit for treats and take them gently out of your fingers. (Less)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Gucci's time was up at a shelter as no one seemed to want this cute little pup, but that's ok because Pup Patrol wanted her! I mean, what's not to want? She is adorable, sweet, playful, and gentle. Gucci weighs about 12 whole pounds, is estimated to be approximately 4 years old, and we believe her to be a Cairn Terrier mix. She is sweet and loves to be around people, and she is also fine with other dogs. She loves to go for walks, and enjoys just sitting on your lap. She is so small that she doesn't take much space in bed. She does not like to be in the crate as she is not used to them. She doesn't destroyed things inside the house so her ... (Read More)foster Mom is confident she will be a good girl while she is gone and does not crate her. She will cry some when you leave her, but with patience, time and love that can be fixed. She can make anybody happy. She is very sweet, gentle and loyal. If you are interested in adding this pup to your family, please fill out our Pre-Adoption Application. Rescue Me ID: 14-04-15-00258Monkey (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Personality: Very High Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I call her Molly Monkey because she is too cute to be called a monkey! Monkey is a dear sweet dog that will shower you with kisses once she gets to know you. Her markings are unusual with white fur and black highlights! She has the scruffy terrier look to her face. She is still a bit skittish around strangers, especially men. Once she gets to know them though, she stops barking. She walks pretty good on a leash...too many new smells to stop and investigate most times though. She loves to chew on her toys and rawhides. Monkey will deliver you your shoes and socks if she thinks you need them, doesn't chew them just carries them into the other ... (Read More)rooms. She has learned to come, but doesn't always let you pet her when she gets there; we are working on that. She loves to play with other dogs and sniffs the cats, but doesn't really bother them. She is trained to her kennel at night and during the day for running errands, but would much rather be with you in bed or going for rides! Monkey is around 6 months old and about 8 lbs. PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Texas
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
