Rescue Me ID: 16-02-04-00211Marge (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Marge is a senior lady-probably close to 10 years old. Her skin was in horrible condition but her spirit is just as sweet as can be. She loves sunbathing and bird watching. She let's herself in and out of the house, as needed. She's pretty self sufficient and effortless to take care of. A couple of medicated baths a week and a good diet seem to be helping her skin problems. She loves her crate and has customized the pillows to her liking. She sleeps all night without a fuss. Marge needs to be noticed by just the right person, who wants to welcome a geriatric dog into their home. A shelter is no place to die. Even if you're old.

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-17-00221Jazzy (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This is Jazzy. She and her sister Baby Doll have quite a story'| They were trapped by a man on a deer lease back and turned into the shelter in 2014. The pair was adopted by an elderly couple a short time later, where they have been living until recently. Sadly, their adoptive dad was diagnosed with leukemia and has had extensive hospitalizations and the couple felt that they weren't giving Jazzy and her sister the attention they needed and were feeling very overwhelmed, so they are now K-9 Angels. These are inside dogs that are used to sleeping in the bed with their owners at night. They are housetrained but not used to being crated; ... (Read More)however in their foster home they go to their crate and sleep in it with the door open. They are most comfortable around adults. They have been around other dogs and children but are nervous, although never aggressive. Jazzy is an active, playful girl! Jazzy is a Chihuahua/Cairn Terrier mix, approx. 2 years old. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. ADOPTION FEE: $200 (includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, medicines and other medical procedures, if necessary) ADOPTION CENTER: 5533 Weslayan St. in the Weslayan Plaza Shopping Center Houston, TX 77005 HOURS: Saturdays 10 AM - 6 PM and Sundays 11 AM - 3:30 PM NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. He sleeps on a little dog bed inside our room right now that he sometimes likes to share with his foster brother. When outside he likes to run around and play, though he is not one for fetch, he does love to chase you. He loves to sit/lay by you, if you let him, but in general he likes to follow you around so keep an eye on your feet as he tends to be right behind you. Curiosity is one of his strong traits, you can see it whenever he perks up his adorable ... (Read More)ears. So far, he does well in the car and walks just fine on a leash. Check out his mo-hawk too! PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Texas
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
