Cairn Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Silly Missy didn't realize that she wasn't supposed to be wandering the streets of San Antonio; she was supposed to be with a loving family inside a great home! So she was picked up off the street and taken in by a great foster who has shown her that a home life is much better than living on the streets. Missy loves to play and run around. One of her favorite things to do? Chase her tail when it catches her eye! This little Missy will go round and round until she finally catches it! When she is all done chasing, Missy will hope right into your lap and cover you in kisses. Still a pup, Missy is working on being house trained and crate ... (Read More)trained but she's a smart little Miss, so she should pick it up quickly! Now that Missy knows where she belongs, this pup is ready to go to her furever home! Rescue Me ID: 16-05-02-00364Ziggy Stardust (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Found roaming on the streets with her sisters , Ziggy Stardust was lucky to be saved by some students from a local university. When these nice students found the 7 month old pups they instantly knew they were so cute they would find loving homes in no time! Now that Ziggy Stardust is off the streets she has blossomed into an 18 pound lap dog, she gives tons of sweet doggie kisses and loves to be showered with affection which should include spoonfuls of coconut oil if you ask her. Ziggy Stardust likes to take short relaxing walks and stop to smell the roses. She likes to hang out around the yard and watch her foster mom in the garden. Ziggy ... (Read More)Stardust is so well behaved and people oriented, she stays close by and doesn't wander. She has shown her foster mom that she is not afraid of all those hail storms that came through recently, the thunder didn't even faze her. And best of all Ziggy Stardust gets along SUPER well with little kids! Ziggy Stardust is an adorable 18 pound schnauzer mix who would love to be an only pet but is learning to get along with both cats and other dogs! She may have had a few scary things happen out on the streets but she is learning more and more each day she can trust other dogs and even those scary cats! She is housebroken and crate trained although she is allowed to roam free inside her foster home. She is leash trained, comes on command, knows her name and rides in a car perfectly. If you are looking for a cuddly, loyal, child-friendly people dog to play and chill with indoors, give Ziggy Stardust a chance to impress you! Note that Ziggy Stardust knows how to open lever style door handles and crates with basic latches-these skills can be harnessed with some positive training, her doggie IQ is very high (says her foster mom)! Rescue Me ID: 16-05-02-00130Ryan (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! My name is Ryan, and I am a very sweet pup full of puppy kisses and snuggles. I am about 7 months old and they think I am a miniature Schnauzer/Cairn Terrier mix. My foster mom says I might be part bat with my adorably gigantic ears! I need to gain some weight, but I will probably weigh about 10-12lbs fully grown. I don't know how I found myself in this position looking for a new home. My previous owners abandoned me and my sister Marcella at a high-kill shelter because they decided they didn't want us anymore, through no fault of our own. My foster mom says they surely didn't deserve such a sweet boy like me; they have no idea ... (Read More)what they are missing out on! Even though I am still working on some of my puppy manners, I am very calm and willing to learn. I am doing well with potty training so far, but I do have accidents if I am not let out every 4-5 hours so I will need someone willing to work with me on that. I LOVE being held so it kind of bums me out that my foster mom is teaching me to run and play on my own rather than beg to be picked up, but I am starting to learn that it is not polite to jump up all the time-although I'm still working on it J Overall, I am still very well-behaved for a puppy and I do sleep quietly through the night on a dog bed in my foster parents' bedroom. I happen to love every person, dog, and child that I have met so far, so I am a very friendly and likeable little guy that just needs some patience, love, and guidance. If you promise to love me forever, I promise to repay you with lots of goofy smiles, gentle puppy kisses on your hand, and funny cha-cha dance moves. Love, Ryan PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.     Marcella is a super sweet love bug! We believe she is a Cairn Terrier / Dachshund mix. She only weighs about 5 lbs, and obviously most of that weight is in her ears smile emoticon Marcella is the best snuggle buddy there ever was. Marcella is doing really well in her foster home. She gets along with the other doggies, and likes to play with toys. She's also doing well with her potty training, and is already crate trained. She's a smart girl, and she goes in her crate willingly when it's time for her foster mommy to go to work. Come & meet Marcella this weekend at the adoption center! Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed

Jillian (Jilly) was born the first part of May, 2014 and we believe she might be a Cairn Terrier mixed with something a little larger. She currently weighs about 16 lbs. and we don't think she will get any larger. We have her sister Jolie too. Jillian is more the gold color of the Cairn terrier than Jolie who is a little more blonde. Jillian is a little on the shy side and we feel she will do best is a household with other friendly dogs. She has a slight submissive elimination disorder but that usually goes away as them become more confident in their surroundings She is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, heart worm tested ... (Read More)and is on monthly heart worm prevention. She is crate trained but still needs a little work with her house training. Jillian's adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in meeting her please email ARNT for a pre adoption questionnaire. Because a home visit to check out the fence around the property is part of the adoption process, Jillian is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Texas
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
