**COLFAX, IL** Skip is your all-American scruffy terrier mix, and we think he's pretty handsome! He's 7.5 years old and is always wagging his tail and looking for attention. He would love to go on walks and car rides with you or just hang out at home! He is an owner-surrender because he was not good with other animals. He will need to be an only pet in his adoptive home with a responsible family.

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hello there! My name is Howie and if you are looking for an inquisitive social butterfly to be your new best friend forever you are in luck because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a 2-year-old terrier mix, and since I am a small 6-pound lovebug, I can happily tag along on all of life's adventures! I have a fun blonde coat (Blondes have more fun, right? Right!), and adorable chocolate-brown eyes. I also have giant silly ears, but I think it is for the best because I love to listen to you tell me ... (Read More)stories about your day! I was found on the streets and brought to Chicago Animal Care & Control. Fetching Tails scooped me up, and I have been having the best time ever with my foster parents while I wait for my forever home. I am a good dog who learns quickly. I am working on my sit and and lay down commands. I am so eager to learn. I love to talk to people as soon as I meet them. It seems like I am just randomly barking at them but I truly want to get to know everyone and tell them who I am so they get to know my great personality. As soon as a human pets me I am in love with them forever. I am even good with human kiddos! I tend to want to be the head dog in charge no matter the size. I love to spend time outside and the best thing in the world is going for long walks on a warm day. One of my favorite things to do is to sit in my foster's lap and have my belly rubbed; that is better than vanilla ice cream, trust me! When you do that I love to reward you with lots of ear kisses! I am fine with being crated in my bedroom while my foster parents have to go to work so they can buy me more treats and toys. I am also potty trained. I do like to play but during the evening I like to sit on the couch and watch HGTV with my foster mom and Star Trek with my foster dad. Don't tell my foster mom but I am a big trekkie fan. So what do you think? I sound pretty incredible, don't I? If you like an itty-bitty dog who likes to go for walks and loves to snuggle, I am definitely the dog for you. Please get in touch with my human friends at Fetching Tails soon and tell them Howie is the dog for you! Love and kisses, Howie If interested please fill out an application on our website at or if any questions please email us at Adoption Requirements: Be at least 21 years of age Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease) Have a valid ID with current address Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment Lives in 50 mile radius of Itasca within the Illinois border Adoption Fees: Senior dog - 8 years and up, $75 Adult or young dog - 6 months to 7 years, $250 Puppies - under 6 months, $350 (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Illinois
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
