Rescue Me ID: 16-05-01-00469Luna (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Come meet Luna at Trendy Pet and Rescue, located inside of Scottsdale Fashion Square, second floor between Dillards and Macys. 480 429 1180 $275 adoption donation Sweet Luna came to rescue with newborn babies. The family simply didn't want them anymore and were going to just toss them in the street. So sad. Luna is great with dogs her size, but does not care for larger dogs. She is very defensive/aggressive around them, but more in a fearful way. She was fostered with a lab, who was very mellow, gentle, and ignored her antics--she constantly barked at her, nipped at her ankles, and her mouth. Because most dogs are not this ... (Read More)tolerant, we believe no large dogs in the home is best. She is also not good with cats. She has lived previously with children, and does well with school aged, well mannered kids who won't maul or manhandle her. She is vocal--but a great watchdog! Very agile, she can scale a baby gate with one hop, so a 6 foot block wall is a must. We think she would do great as an agility dog. Luna did test positive for tick fever (erlichia) but has finished treatment. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed. (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Come meet Luna this Saturday 4/23 at the Lake Pleasant Petsmart from 10-3! If adopted before the event the listing will be removed. We were notified of a family who had a mama dog with 3 newborn puppies who no longer wanted them. They put them in a box outside hoping someone would take them, and told the neighbor if no one did, they would throw them in the ocean. Luckily the neighbor took in the family, they crossed the border--and on to freedom! Luna is as sweet as can be. She is very busy like a terrier, but does settle down and loves to cuddle. She would be good with an active couple or family, as she loves to run! A VERY ... (Read More)secure yard/gate/home is needed --as she is agile and can slither under a gate or scale a 4 foot fence easily. Luna is about 1-2 yrs old, 10 lbs, she did test positive for erlichia (tick fever) but has recovered nicely. She takes doxycylline until 4/28, and that medication will go home with her. She is now spayed, current on vaccination, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is also current on her flea/tick preventative and Heartguard. (Less)

**IF YOU CAN READ THIS, I AM STILL AVAILABLE. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A CHANCE AT ME, PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION BY GOING TO AZRAIN.ORG AND CLICKING ON THE ADOPT TAB, THEN THE DOG INTEREST FORM. THERE IS NO WAY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR ME WITHOUT COMPLETING ONE. R.A.I.N RESCUE DOES NOT BRING ANY OF THEIR DOGS OR PUPPIES TO ANY EVENTS. IF YOU ARE CHOSEN TO SEE ME, YOU WILL GET A CALL. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A BIT TO FIND OUR FOREVER HOMES AS WE HAVE TO BE SPAY AND NEUTERED 1ST'|.AND THE DOG DIRECTOR IS VERY PICKY! ITS ALL ABOUT 'US' ! THIS pup is Dino, he is the largest of the litter of 7 super adorable pups, and with the longest (wispy type) ... (Read More)hair too. (view photos). The mama is a white Cairn Terrier, and she came to the rescue already Pregnant, so unsure what the daddy is. Dino was born 2/11/16, and has already been de-wormed, neutered and micro-chipped. (Too young for a rabies shot, and all immunization shots will be done by RAIN Rescue). None of the puppies look like they will get any larger than 12 -15 lbs when fully grown. (some may not reach 7 lbs). Of course with any puppy, you will need to give them a lot of love and socialization. A coupon for a 1/2 hour private session with a Petsmart trainer will accompany these puppies when adopted through R.A.I.N. Rescue. The adoption fee is $225.00. If you are interested in meeting him, Go to the ADOPT tab, and click on Dog Interest Form on our website at www.azrain.org.. THANKS FOR WANTING TO RESCUE YOUR NEXT FAMILY MEMBER!! Do you see me? If so, my forever home has NOT been chosen yet. Your application stays on file with us for 90 days, in the event you are not chosen to adopt the dog you filled out the application for. Please don't email us, if you haven't filled out an application 1st. We do not bring our small dogs to adoption events, because #1) they are normally scared to death and very nervous, not knowing what's going on with the many people coming up to the pens and hovering over them. Many shiver and shake with the unknown. #2) People adopt on impulse when they see a particularly 'cute' dog/puppy. When they are adopted on impulse, reality sets in with in the 1st month of adopting it'|Oh, this puppy ate the leg off my chair, I can't have that!.., or '|You said this dog was house trained and it pees all over'| and then in many cases they are returned to rescue. #3) When people have to fill out a form 1st, and read all the questions about the care of a dog/puppy, they see that there are many aspects to adopting a family member, that they may not of thought of. They also realize that it is a life time commitment. The application Is done prior to adopting, so the family understands the seriousness and responsibilities of ownership. We have applications available at 2840 W Chandler Blvd. (At Petsmart, in the Lowes shopping center). It is located at the 101 and chandler blvd. OR, you can go to our website and get one, then email back to us at info@azrain.org OR, hand deliver it to us on Saturdays at our Donation Table we have set up, right of the front door of Petsmart. Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Say Hello to Holly! Holly was rescued from Maricopa County West hours from euthanasia because of pain, paralysis and what they determined was 'poor quality of life'. Holly was 'in pain' because was a paralyzed dog who was dumped in the desert and was dragging herself through dirt, rocks and cactus trying to find her way home. She was dropped off at county without any medical assistance - just an immediate decision to euthanize her for 'poor quality of life'. We saw this frightened beauty on social media and knew we needed to give her a chance. It took hours and hours for us to remove the HUNDREDS of thorns and cactus from her little body. ... (Read More)She has a corkscrew lower spine and tailbone so she has no use of her back legs. Holly is a 'SPECIAL NEEDS' girl so she has learned to 'scoot' to get around. A kind lady heard of Holly's plight and generously donated a wheelchair and you should see Holly go!! She may be paralyzed from the waist down, but Holly doesn't know it! She moves like lightning on her new wheels! Even with her disability, Holly is such a sweet and loving girl. She's been with our rescue for 10 weeks and her personality has blossomed! She is such a happy girl and shows love and kisses to everyone she meets. Holly gets along very well with her mates but would do best with dogs her own size. She would thrive with a family who understands her disability - preferably a retired single or couple who can love on her. When Holly is not using her wheel chair, she will need a scoot bag to get around as we don't want her back legs and behind to be rubbed along the ground. She is very loving and content to sit and hang out watching tv with her human or going for walks - which she LOVES! Holly has had a full vet check and is a healthy girl, up to date on all vaccinations, grooming, micro-chip and of course her wheelchair and scoot bag. Applicants only who are willing to provide Holly with all of her needs. (Less)

This is Tommy. This little guy is very friendly and playful. He loves people and other dogs. Most of all, he loves to play. Our best guess is that he is 4-5 months old. Based on his current size, we estimate that he will be about 25-30 pounds as an adult. He is definitely a mixed breed dog and the breeds that we have listed are purely a guess. There could be many other breeds in there as well. He has a very nice temperament and would make a great addition to any home. He is doing very well with crate training and doesn't have accidents in his crate as long as he is let outside fairly often. He comes when he is called, but he is a puppy and ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Cairn in Arizona
Cairn Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Cairn Terrier is a shaggy, spunky little dog with tons of energy and personality. The indefatigable Cairn is full of energy and is very lovable. Cairns love to dig, chase, and bark. Cairns are very active and need plenty of exercise but adapt well to apartment life. Cairns like to do tricks and are very trainable. Cairns are wonderful with children. A Cairn can be very territorial and should be watched for a tendency to take on much larger dogs if it feels threatened.
